Our office is closed Monday May 28 for Memorial Day. We will re-open Tuesday at 8:00 AM. This is a federal holiday, formerly known as Decoration Day, was first observed in 1868. Congress designated it Memorial Day in 1968 and set its' observance for the last Monday in May. This day we honor those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives in service to our country.
I encourage you to fly an American flag this Memorial Day to honor the sons and daughters of Scottsboro and Jackson County that have died in combat protecting our precious freedoms that we enjoy every day.
I also encourage you to attend the Memorial Day ceremony at 11:00 AM at Collins Elementary School. The local VFW and American Legion will participate.
